What It Is

An Even, Radiant Complexion

Laser pigmentation removal targets excess melanin in age spots, sun damage, freckles and post-inflammatory pigmentation. The laser breaks the pigment into fine particles that the body clears over the following weeks, revealing clearer, more even-toned skin.

What pigmentation can laser treat?

Laser pigmentation removal treats age spots (solar lentigines), sun damage, freckles, post-inflammatory pigmentation from acne, and some types of melasma. Discrete, well-defined pigmented spots on face, hands and chest respond best, typically clearing in one to three sessions.
  • Age spots / liver spots: excellent response, usually 1-2 sessions
  • Sun damage on face, chest, hands: very good response
  • Freckles: good response but may return with sun exposure
  • Post-inflammatory pigmentation: good response when combined with skincare
  • Melasma: needs specialist cautious approach — not all melasma suits laser

How does pigmentation laser work?

The laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is selectively absorbed by melanin — the pigment causing the dark patch. The heat shatters the melanin into smaller particles, which the skin sheds and the lymphatic system carries away, revealing clearer skin beneath over two to four weeks.

Is pigmentation laser safe for my skin tone?

Laser pigmentation removal is generally safe for Fitzpatrick skin types I to IV. Darker skin tones (V and VI) require specialist settings and sometimes different treatments because of the higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We assess your skin honestly at your free consultation.

What happens during and after a session?

Each pigmented spot is targeted directly by the laser, producing a brief warm snapping sensation. Within 24 hours the treated spots typically darken and form a thin scab that flakes off naturally over 7 to 14 days — leaving clearer skin. Do not pick the scabs. Use SPF 50 every day for three months.

FAQs

Pigmentation Questions

Will the pigmentation come back after laser removal?

Treated pigmentation does not grow back in the same place. However, new pigmentation can develop with repeated sun exposure. Daily SPF 50, a vitamin-C serum and sensible sun habits protect your results and reduce the chance of new spots forming.

Does laser pigmentation removal hurt?

Most clients describe it as a brief, mild snapping sensation on each spot. No numbing cream is required for the majority of cases. Sessions on small numbers of spots take only 10 to 15 minutes.

Can I treat melasma with laser?

Some melasma responds well to gentle laser; other types worsen with heat-based treatments. We always recommend a specialist consultation before treating melasma and may suggest a combination of laser skin rejuvenation, targeted skincare and a cautious, staged approach rather than aggressive treatment.
